How it started
It started with a question hidden inside a comment Angie heard far too often:
“But you don’t look blind.”
What exactly is blind supposed to look like?
Created by Angie C., a blind Latina woman, This Is What Blind Looks Like began as a way to challenge misconceptions about blindness and provide education and resources for people experiencing vision loss. Today, the conversation has grown to include a team of blind and visually impaired voices whose lives and experiences demonstrate just how diverse the blindness community really is.
Who we are
Angie is joined by co-host Patty, producer and contributor Danny, and contributor Greg. Together, they bring different cultural backgrounds, levels of vision, causes of blindness, mobility methods, careers, relationships, and life experiences to the microphone.
What we talk about
Through personal stories, interviews, educational conversations, listener questions, humor, and the occasional BS episode, we explore accessibility, blindness etiquette, guide dogs and canes, technology, relationships, careers, independence, ableism, and everyday life.
Who we’re here for
We’re here for people who are blind or visually impaired, people experiencing vision loss, their families and friends, professionals who work with the blindness community, and sighted people who simply want to understand more and make the world around them more accessible and inclusive.
There isn’t one right way to be blind.
There isn’t one blind experience.
And there definitely isn’t one way to look blind.
This is what blind looks like.
